The Integrated child Development Services (ICDS) is India’s response to the challenge of meeting the holistic need of the child. The ICDS is one of the world’s largest and most unique outreach programme for early childhood care and development. It symbolizes India’s commitment to its children.
But the fact of Karkara Village in West Bengal is contrary to this programme. There has been no building which has been allocated for the ICDS centre. And the building which is used for the centre is on the road side. with no barriers. This is a huge danger for the children and the adults who either come there or are working there.
In the recent release (Dated 29.9.2015) by the ministry of Women and Child Development a grant of Rs 61.6 crores has been released for West Bengal alone. And in this release the Centre and State have to contribute on a 50:50 ratio.
